Well, I've been shopping for a new special guitar for some time now.  On paper, I convinced myself that I should buy a Martin 000-42 Marquis.  Maybe someday I will...

But this time, it was not to be.  As soon as I heard about the Pat Donahue custom deep-bodied OM, I was very anxious to try it.  Dreadnaught's sort of give me a pain in the shoulder, but they sure sound great on the bottom end.

My playing, such as it is, is primarily fingerstyle, which is what this guitar was designed for.  And designed by one of the best fingerstylists anywhere, Pat Donahue, well-known for his work with Garrison Keillor on A Prairie Home Companion.

Gryphon had this one, #3 in the series, for about 2 days when I came by.  I couldn't pass this one up, it was just too special.  I played it for nearly an hour, long past where I would normally get shoulder pain from a dreadnaught-sized guitar.  The geometry of this one is very favorable to my shoulder, so I took it home...  Now to start the long process of falling even more deeply in love with it.
