At Siemens (formerly ROLM), I am currently a senior system administrator for a departmental IT group which provides complete IT, networking,  messaging, development environment, and desktop support services to a 500 user software and hardware engineering community, using Microsoft and open standards technologies
PRIMARY
DUTIES
  • Plan and implement IT infrastructure
  • Architect, test, pilot, deploy, and maintain MS backoffice infrastructure
    • Domain controllers, file servers
    • Exchange servers, including multimedia messaging
    • Intranet web server
    • Remote access servers
    • Backup and disaster-recovery systems
    • Security systems 
  • Provide second- and third-level support to desktop support team (Win2K, NT, Win9x, Networking)
  • Consult to development engineering project teams 
  • Generate content for departmental web server
SKILLS Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).  Certified on Windows NT Workstation, Windows NT Server, Windows NT Server in the Enterprise, Networking, TCP/IP, Microsoft Exchange Server.  Also an expert Windows 95, 98, 2000, and DOS.

Familiar with wide variety of systems, products and protocols, including HTML, TCP/IP, NetBEUI, DNS, WINS, DHCP, MS-Office, Telephony, Unix, ISDN, DSL, VPN, etc.   

Experience with backup and disaster recovery including large scale MS-Exchange disaster recovery.

Prior to becoming an IT engineer I spent several years as a test engineer, testing PBX hardware and software.
